Profile
As someone who has worked for the past eleven years in the field of design and production for print, web, television, and CD-ROM I have gained a large knowledge-base which goes towards the conception, planning, production, packaging, and marketing of a product. I have worked with most professional digital production programs including: Final Cut, Media 100, Premier, Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Director, and several of the leading 3D modeling and animation programs.

Over my eleven years in the IT field I have had to learn many new programs and adapt my techniques and knowledge to a continually changing environment. I have experience working under tight deadlines and handle pressure extremely well. I am experienced in handling multiple tasks at once and possess the ability to work under self-guided conditions.

Experience
VMP Group, Graphic Designer (Marketing, Print/web Media) — 2004 to Present
I have worked at every level from designer to project manager. I have been part of a team, working on a wide variety of video, web and print related projects in both English and French. These projects include commercials, DVDs, logos, ads, programs, pamphlets, educational booklets, and full marketing and branding campaigns for both private and government sectors.

Square Peg Productions & Consulting, Owner — 2002 to 2006
I was full owner of a small business specializing in graphic design and instruction. I had such clients as Centre for Craft and Design, Folkus Atlantic, Old Sydney Society,Two Rivers Wildlife Park, and more.

Boardwalk Magazine, Lead Layout & Ad design — 2002 to 2006
I provided design and layout services for a weekly Cape Breton entertainment magazine. I worked with multiple clients and strict deadlines.

C@P Society of Cape Breton (ITEXPO), Multimedia Technician — 2002 & 2003
I provided project support for 36 schools, grades 3 to 12, involved with the Expo. The projects ranged from audio and video recording studios to PowerPoint Presentations. I also designed and implemented all marketing material to promote the 3 day event.

Teaching Experience, Instructor — 1999 to 2004
I taught part-time at Nova Scotia Community College, McKenzie College and private workshops for a collective five years. I have taught such classes as Flash Animation, Web Design / Authoring, Design Principles, Photoshop, Illustrator, Javascript, and 3D Modeling and Animation.

VMP Group — As senior graphic designer I have had the opportunity to oversee a wide variety of media projects such as video productions, print ads, billboard and bus shelters, digital display advertising, e-mail blitzes, web sites, and full feature brand campaigns. I have worked at every level from layout and design to concept and media buying. I have had the pleasure of overseeing promotions for projects such as Rock the Dock, the Vince Ryan Hockey Tournament, and the Port Hawksebury Business and Trade Convention.

Boardwalk Magazine — As lead layout and ad designer for Boardwalk Magazine I oversaw the creation and insertion of all ads and content into the magazine; this required coordinating with the sales team, editor, writers, and nearly 30 advertisers on a weekly basis.

Itexpo 02-03 — As lead media technician for the expo I provided project support for 36 schools, grades 3-12, involved with the expo. It was my job to meet with students, teachers, and administration to determine their abilities and assess their short comings. Once identified I would hold workshops for the teachers and help the students assemble their project to feature the day of the expo.

Folkus Atlantic — As lead multimedia technician I had the pleasure of working on many great educational and culturally rich projects. I had the opportunity to help shape the structure, content, media, and graphic feel in such roles as: author of Peopling of Atlantic Canada CD-ROM, programmer for www.LearnersPortal.com (including many digitizations of video and audio interviews for the site), author / assistant editor of Bras d'Or Lakes & Watershed (a series of 26 videos exhibited on interactive modules at the Bras d'Or Lakes and Watershed Interpretive Centre in Badedeck), and layout for One God One Aim One Destiny the story of African Nova Scotians in Cape Breton.
